Ride Connect Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy shall be read in addendum to the Terms and Conditions available on our Website.

SUZUKI MOTORCYCLE INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED (“SMIPL”), is the owner of the mobile application titled SUZUKI RIDE CONNECT ("Application").

SMIPL is devoted to protecting your personal information and privacy with respect to the personal information collected on this Application and this privacy policy sets forth how such personal information collected on this Application is protected.

Certain sections of the Application may require you to provide personal information in order for us to efficiently provide the services or information requested by you while visiting the Application. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to bring to your knowledge the nature of information collected by SMIPL, the purpose of collection such data and its use, subsequent processing of such data and your rights relating to such data shared with us. This privacy policy further sets out your rights pertaining to personal data protection. You are requested to read and understand the terms and condition stipulated below in connection with the use of our application. Usage of the Application includes unconditional acceptance of these terms. Therefore, kindly proceed with using the Application only if you agree to this Privacy Policy.

SMIPL reserves the right to modify this privacy policy from time to time. 

The Privacy Policy adopted by SMIPL to secure the aforementioned goal is as follows:

NATURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED BY US

SMIPL collects the following Personal Information shared by the user on the Application-

• Name as provided by user during profile creation in application. (Stored locally on mobile phone only).
• Current city/town as per current location information that is allowed by user while creating profile. (Stored locally on mobile phone only).
• Vehicle’s type, model and colour that is provided by user during profile creation (stored locally on mobile phone only).
• The contact information provided by user during feedback process (only used for communication purpose and not shared with third party or stored permanently)
• The user image provided by user at the time of creating profile (stored locally on mobile phone only).
• Call information restricted to incoming caller name in case of saved contact and to incoming caller number in case of unsaved contact and the number of unread missed calls. This information is accessed for the sole purpose of displaying alert notification on the connected vehicle display and in no way stored or shared.
• SMS information restricted to received SMS sender name and the number of unread SMS only. This information is accessed for the sole purpose of displaying alert notification on the connected vehicle display and in no way stored or shared.
• The navigation route information is saved purely on the user’s decision, which is stored locally on the user’s device. This information is stored temporarily as long as the application is installed in the user’s device or until the user deletes it and in no way stored or shared to any remote sever for geo-fencing or analytics.
• This application collects background location data to enable navigation services while using the application at foreground and background.
• Your vehicle’s last known location is stored locally on the user’s device and is not sent to any remote server. This location is stored for the sole purpose of providing user with their vehicle’s last known location.
• Digital Wallet Feature facilitates the user to store the soft copies of vehicle documents i.e. Driving Licence, PUC Certificate, RC Certificate, Insurance documents using the SRC Application. These documents are stored locally in the user’s mobile device internal database using the Secure Application Authentication Mechanism. User will key in the expiry dates of these documents in the application so that appropriate early notifications will be sent on the user mobile device for renewal of the documents as and when needed by using the application. These documents are stored locally on the user’s device and is not sent to any remote server. Also, the data stored in the phone internal database is protected through user authentication mechanism like Pattern, Face Recognition or Fingerprint.
• The App utilizes Google Firebase Analytics to verify the app usage parameters like downloads & installs and crash reports. Using Firebase Analytics, we analyse application usage to improve our services through Firebase Cloud messaging to share important application specific messages, identify & fix issues to enhance your experience with the App.
• SMIPL is not sharing any customer data, however Google firebase may collect vehicle information for sending targeted information and notifications.
• When user shares the Navigation Route feedback like Traffic Jam, Accidents etc using the Navigation Feedback Function, application will not collect any personal data except the data related to the User Feedback. Any data collected is limited and needed for the feedback itself, which will only be used to display information on the map.

All the information provided by the user as stated above shall be stored in the user’s device locally and will not be sent to any remote servers except the Navigation Feedback shared by user for map improvements. Such information is stored temporarily as long as the application is installed in the user’s device.

INFORMATION NOT COLLECTED/STORED BY SMIPL

Suzuki Ride Connect Application is standalone mobile application. It is not connected to any backend database or server. Application does not generate any log or trace file and does not collect any sensitive information from user’s device. There are no malicious undertakings in our application and there will be no misuse of the data received by SMIPL from the user. In particular, the following data is not collected or stored by SMIPL-

• Contents of SMS (not even for internal purposes).
• Call information, call recording, contact storage data (not even for internal purpose).
• User financial information via SMS.
• Personal data from user’s device
• User location in the background.
• Tracking details or profile user’s location information,
• Any information from user’s device anonymously for analytics purpose.
• Granted permissions, outside the scope of application features, shall never be used by SMIPL.
• SMIPL shall not use granted permissions to make calls or send SMS on behalf of the user.
• Application does not collect anonymous device information for performance analysis.
• The application bug report is sent only in case of application crash, which will not contain any sensitive information related to user or user’s device by SMIPL. Application bug report helps us to understand the reason for crash and be sent via a secured path to the Google’s firebase server.
• Digital wallet documents stored in the phone local database are not used for any external usage but enables the user to carry softcopies rather than using the conventional hard copies. Certificates are stored as images in the database and application does not read any contents of these certificates. Sole purpose of this feature is to give appropriate notifications to renew the documents as and when needed.
• The App will collect and process Bluetooth data from connected devices, such as device name, signal strength, and other relevant information. This data is necessary to establish and maintain the Bluetooth connection and enable the App's functionality and it will be stored locally in user’s phone. This Bluetooth data is solely used for the purpose mentioned here.

METHOD OF RECEIPT/COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

• SMIPL collects data directly from you through your interactions with us via our application, social media applications or internet sites, telephone, email or by writing to us.
• SMIPL may also collect your personal information from third party sources such as our dealers, vendors, business partners, government authorities, judicial authorities, any other sources legally acquired by us.
• SMIPL receives data in the form of “notifications” such as incoming call, SMS notification, and number of unread SMS which are received on the application upon being connected to the cluster via Bluetooth. The application also enables the user to send an auto reply in case of unanswered calls.  However, being sensitive in nature, none of the aforementioned data is stored/saved by SMIPL.

PURPOSE OF COLLECTON OF SUCH PERSONAL INFORMATION

Unless otherwise provided in the Policy, we may use personal information collected from the Sites/Apps in various ways including:

• Authenticate the user’s account or information on the Application.
• Provide user with requisite services under the Application.
• Contact users for confirming registration on the Application.
• Communication with users for responding to queries or seeking feedback or resolving issues pertaining to any product or services.
• Maintaining record of users consent for sharing personal information.  
• Conduct customer relationship surveys or other surveys.
• Educate users about SMIPL and services provided via the Application.
• Maintenance of efficiency while providing high quality and standard of services on the Application
• To send you important information regarding the Application, changes in terms and conditions, user agreements, and policies and/or other administrative information
• To enhance the safety of users by allowing the users to view important notifications on the vehicle's dashboard display while riding.
• To review performance of the Application, collect Application usage statistics, maintain security of the Application.
• Comply with our legal obligations or as otherwise permitted by law.
• Investigate potential breaches, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SMIPL and the Users of the Application
• For any other purpose incidental to business.
• To receive the important notifications regarding vehicle document renewals as well as store the soft copies in the digital format to avoid carrying hardcopies of the vehicle documents.

In case where Personal Information collected is used for any other purpose other than the aforementioned purposes, users shall be notified about such specific purposes prior to processing of your personal information.

By providing any personal information on the Application, the user consents to the transfer of such information across country borders, and to the use, processing, and disclosure of such information in global locations, including those that may have different levels of privacy protection than in your own country.

By giving your contact details on the Application, the user agrees to receive communication from SMIPL or any of its associate over email/SMS/ Call/ WhatsApp.

RIGHTS OF USERS

All the information provided by the user as stated above will be stored in the user’s device locally and will not be sent to any remote servers. All the information provided by the user is stored temporarily as long as the application is installed in user’s device. In tune with the same, the users have the following rights while using the Application-

• Anyone having user account on the Application can access their information under the profile section and can update/modify/correct/delete their personal data. 
• Users can request details of their Personal Information available with us, purposes for which they are being used or might be used in the future and with whom such data has been shared.
• Users may contact the Grievance Officer in case they wish to make a complaint regarding the manner in which their personal information has been handled by us.
• Users need not provide reasons for seeking access to their details on the Application subject to furnishing proof of identity.
• Users may opt-out of receiving non-essential, promotional or marketing-related communications from SMIPL.
• Users can withdraw their consent to the storage or processing of their Personal Information and such data shall be erased by SMIPL. If there are any contractual obligations, legal obligations to retain such data, the same shall not be erased in spite of a request for withdrawal made by the user. 

PARTIES WITH WHOM INFORMATION IS SHARED

SMIPL may share the Personal Information collected from the Application with third parties as outlined herewith-

• Affiliates

SMIPL’s parent company and joint ventures. These entities may use this information for the purposes outlined herein.

• Business Partners

(a) Service Providers who perform services on behalf of SMIPL and which require the user’s information for performing their functions including but not limited to service partners, call centre operators, marketing partners, IT agencies operating handling the Application who work for SMIPL.

(b) Authorized dealers of SMIPL, sub-dealers, franchise etc. which are independently owned and operated.

(c) Vendors including but not limited to suppliers, research and development vendors, advisors, agents, representatives etc.

• Other Partners

Parties with whom SMIPL co-brands or partners with or collaborates for business purposes or for investigation of potential data incidents or to protect the rights, property and safety of SMIPL and its Users.

• Legal Authorities

Personal Information in response to any notice, order, investigation or demand or request or any other communication from a law enforcement agency which necessitate or mandate the sharing of such personal information, or to otherwise comply with applicable laws.

SMIPL does not use or disclose any information for purposes other than as mentioned in this Policy, except with the consent of User providing such Information or as required by law.

PROTECTION OF INFORMATION PROVIDED TO SMIPL

The Application has strict security measures for protection of personal information provided to SMIPL. SMIPL stores all personal information in a secure manner preventing its loss, misuse, wrongful disclosure, alteration, or destruction. The said security measures are periodically updated. However, SMIPL is not liable for breach of security during internet transmission of personal information, including any unintended loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure of such information. Furthermore, notwithstanding anything contained in this privacy policy, SMIPL will not be responsible for any loss, damage or misuse of personal information, if such loss, damage or misuse is attributable to an event of Force Majeure or to any reason attributable to the user.

SMIPL may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith that such action is whenever necessary to comply with a legal obligation or if disclosure was required by any law or by order of any competent court or statutory authority, to protect and defend the legal rights or IPR of SMIPL. 

RESTRICTIONS ON USE

User shall not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information, services obtained from the Application without our prior consent, directly or indirectly in any medium. Neither these materials nor any portion thereof may be stored in a computer except for personal and non-commercial use.

NO UNLAWFUL OR PROHIBITED USE

All users warrant to SMIPL that they will not use the Application for any purpose that is illegal or prohibited by these terms of use. Users shall not use the Application in any manner which could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Application or interfere with any other party's use and enjoyment of this Application.

USE OF COMMUNICATION SERVICES

The Application may contain some areas or communication facilities (e.g. Feedback form, Survey site etc.) for you to communicate or give feedback to us or other associates (collectively, "Communication Services").  The users agree to use the Communication Services only to post, send and receive messages and material that are proper and related to the particular communication. By way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree that when using a Communication Service, user shall not:

• Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights or privacy of others.
• Publish, post, upload, distribute or disseminate any inappropriate, defamatory, obscene, indecent or unlawful material or information.
• Upload files that contain software or other material protected by intellectual property laws unless you own or control the rights thereto or have received all necessary consents.
• Upload files that contain viruses, corrupted files, or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of another's computer.
• Falsify or delete any author attributions, legal or other notices or proprietary designations or labels of the origin or source of software or other material contained in a file that is uploaded.
• Restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying the Communication Services.

TERMINATION/ACCESS RESTRICTION

SMIPL reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate the user’s access to whole or any part of Application and the related services or any portion thereof at any time without notice.

GOOGLE PLAY PRIVACY POLICY:

SMIPL agrees that its products that is available through Google Play will protect the user’s privacy and legal rights. SMIPL assures that the information that is available with it shall only be provided with legally adequate privacy notice and protection (as and when necessary). The product shall use that information listed herein for the limited purposes for which the policy of Google Play permits.

The product shall store the user’s personal or sensitive information securely and only for the duration necessary. On any occasion where the user opts into a separate agreement with SMIPL comprising of a separate set of terms, conditions and policies, which allows SMIPL to store or use personal or sensitive information directly related to SMIPL’s products, then the terms of such separate agreement shall govern the use of such information provided therein.

Furthermore, in case the user provides their Google Account information while accessing the Application, SMIPL shall use such information only to access the user’s Google Account for the limited purposes for which the user has given the permission.

GOVERNING LAW/JURISDICTION

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by the laws of India and the courts in New Delhi, India shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to try any dispute arising thereof.

This Privacy Policy was last updated in March 2025 and remains current until the date it is replaced with another version. SMIPL may modify and update its Privacy Policy from time to time by publishing it on Sites.
